Imaging Campaign
Diagnostic devices are critical to providing urgent, emergent and seriously ill patients the best care available on Kauai. Wilcox Health Foundation is raising funds to upgrade equipment to ensure Wilcox Medical Center maintains the highest level of care and to establish a diagnostic center of excellence so Kauai patients can remain home.
Wilcox plans to:
- Replace a Computed Tomography or CT scanner for emergency injury and stroke diagnosis. More than 11,000 CT scans are performed at Wilcox every year.
- Upgrade the only full Magnetic Resonance Imaging, known as MRI, available onthe island to further improve speed and accuracy of imaging.
- Upgrade the nuclear medicine camera so patients can stay on Kauai duringspecialty studies.
Needed Support for Emergency and Trauma Care
Emergencies are unexpected, and fortunately the community on Kauai has Wilcox Medical Center when they need immediate medical attention.
- Wilcox’s Emergency Department averages 25,000 visits annually.
- Wilcox was the first neighbor island medical center to be designated as a Level III Trauma Center.
- Wilcox is the first Hawaii trauma center to be verified by the American College of Surgeons.
- Wilcox averages 450 trauma activations per year.

Wilcox Medical Center’s Malama Fund provides medication, medical equipment, transportation and more for patients in financial need on Kauai.
